The Wellness Warriors is a dragon boat paddling team for cancer survivors and caregivers in the Boston area (we train and race on the Charles River). We offer men and women ages 30 to 80 the chance to improve their quality of life through our paddling support group. Paddle Leaders are needed to schedule trips. If you would like to lead trips, contact the organizer. Meet other local paddlers to talk about kayaking, local rivers and creeks, and to plan flatwater trips. Kayaking beginners are welcome! Informal instruction provided, just ask. Generally, you need a kayak. Those who own several kayaks and want to help others with a loaner are encouraged (tip them!). Total number on trips runs 12-24 usually. Started in China 2,300 years ago, dragon boat is a competitive sport where long, sleek boats holding 20 paddlers, a drummer, and a steerer race down a 500 meter course.
